Reading room – Available seats

According to the Law Decree 8 October 2021 n. 139, adopting urgent procedures to access cultural, sports and recreational activities, it is announced that from Tuesday, October 19, 2021 the capacity of the Reading Room of the Library increases from 6 to 14 seats.
It is still compulsory to use a face mask inside the Library.

Dante e il suo tempo nelle biblioteche fiorentine

The celebrations of the 700th anniversary of Dante Alighieri’s death bring together the three historic Florentine libraries, the Biblioteca Medicea Laurenziana , the Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale and the Biblioteca Riccardiana, in a joint exhibition initiative promoted by the Società Dantesca Italiana.
The exhibition, with the patronage and contribution of the Committee for the Celebrations of Dante’s Centenary, will take place simultaneously in the three locations from 24 September 2021 to 14 January 2022. For further information: Dante e il suo tempo nelle biblioteche fiorentine


Green Certification to enter the Library

As established by art. 3 of the Law Decree n. 105 of 23 July 2021, starting from 6 August access to the Library will be allowed only to people with a valid Covid-19 Green Certification, to be shown at the entrance (in digital or paper format) together with the Library card or identity document. This documentation will be checked (through the VerificationC19 app) by the staff at the entrance.

Covid measures for access to the Library

BML Covid safety protocol – Safety rules for accessing the reading room:
• access with Green Pass
• body temperature check at entrance
• wear a mask
• use the hand sanitiser provided

Access to the reading room is only by reservation for up to 14 people per day, including Tuesday, by calling the number: +39 055 2937911 during the opening hours of the Library.
Please DO NOT send email for seat reservation.
Please also note that the maximum number of items allowed on view is 5 per day.

From Monday 18 January 2021 the study room has the following opening hours:
Monday – Friday: 8.30-13.30
Tuesday: 8.30-16.30
Last request: 13.00
